Public Liability Insurance
IQ has acquired Public Liability Insurance (umbrella insurance available - (contact IQ for more info.) (WHMF / y10 formal / BEC etc. )

Volunteer Grant
IQ received an International Year of the Volunteer grant of $3,200 for tools.

Organic Community Market Garden
IQ is preparing an "Organic Community Market Garden" & if you are interested, get involved through programs below or just get involved.

IQ SCENE
The IQ SCENE (Sustainable Community Employment Network Enterprise) is growing with a great crew of volunteers involved in a range of exciting activities at Island Quarry.

With huge thanks to our current volunteers, our organic community garden is ready for planting, our office is wired for IT and our workshed is (almost) set up for the next round of creative building projects. In the next few months we will be offering workshops in composting toilet construction and flowform installation, as well as a range of building and recycling projects to improve IQ's community facilities.

There's so much happening that we need more help to make the Island Quarry Arts and Eco Park an excellent community resource for everyone.

Garage Bazaar
Recently, a successful Garage Bazaar was held at the Quarry

Solstice Workshops
On December 14 - 17 2003, William 2Feather conducted a successful sweat lodge, personal healings, sweat lodge ceremony, medicine tools, talking stick, spirit guide, night fire circle and more. For more info, visit his site

Architectural Competition
IQ is seeking participants, judges and sponsors for a national and international Architectural Competition to help create the IQ Arts & Eco Centre. Feel free to express any interest. email.

Recycling
IQ Recycling / Revolve Centre is now opening to the public by arrangement, 3pm - 4pm Saturdays, or by contacting 02 6685 9999. All recycling will be accepted including, cardboard, paper, bottles, aluminium cans, commercial off-cuts, recyclables, building materials, and any other reusables.

Regeneration
IQ Regeneration and Botanical Gardens are flourishing, thanks to substantial plant donations and nature working with several volunteers.

Flickerfest
Flickerfest International Short Film Festival Touring Program Sat.17th & Sun.18th Jan. 2004 - very successfully held with IQ since 1999. This is a special event for the Island Quarry, being the internationally renowned festival’s first port of call out of Sydney.

BFNS
Through the Bushland Friendly Nursery Scheme, sixteen Councils from Tweed to Taree have agreed to exclude the use of environmental weeds in new developments and their own landscaping.

Monthly Public Meetings
Saturday, 1st weekend of each Month from 3pm, which anyone may attend. Only financial members who have attended 3 prior consecutive, monthly public meetings may be invited to vote.

IQ Restructure
At present the 5 members of the IQ Association committee act as the Reserve Trust board. The IQ Association committee intends to invite people to form a new trust board. We envisage that three community representatives will hold these positions on a voluntary basis for up to 4 year periods.

AGM
IQ AGM was held 6/12/03 and ratified resolutions to the Model Rules for Associations & have adopted that as the IQ Inc Constitution. The current IQ chairperson of the IQ Association / IQ Reserve Trust, Shane Rennie, has been on a 2 year trial of a 5 x 5 year Management Agreement to the IQ Association & Trust. (Ratification pending)
